Shimmering Sparkle

Featuring a chrome finish and with a purposefully simple design, the Mag throw off is a workhorse drop throw with a horizontal tension adjustment to offer quick and intricate setting changes.

The DW Mag takes its name from the clever magnet that is integrated into the body of the throw-off and works to keep the handle securely in the upright position so that it won’t release without a slight tug.

This simple yet effective design feature makes sure the throw off won’t come loose as you play resulting in a loss of the snare wire effect.

Instead it holds the snare wires securely against the resonant head to ensure a consistent snare response that you can rely on to remain in place.

When you release the handle it then throws the strainer completely off the resonant head to avoid any strainer buzz and deliver a quick and clean snare release.

Precise Tuning

As with all the drums in the DW Performance series, this Gold Sparkle snare is fitted with true-pitch tension rods to provide strong hold and precise tuning.

The true-pitch tuning rods have an increased number of threads compared to standard tension rods in order to achieve more exact and longer lasting tuning across the snare drum.

While most tension rods have one thread every 1.05mm, the true-pitch rods have 1 thread every 0.8mm which is a 20% increase.

The result is a snare drum that accommodates more intricate tuning adjustments to ensure you achieve the exact sound you need from low, fat thud to high, cranked cut.

Marvellous Maple

DW utilise a proprietary HVX process in the construction of their shells to deliver versatile sound and optimum resonance.

Devised by executive vice president John Wood and the DW Custom Shell Shop team, the HVX method combines grain orientation technology and a specific pattern of plies.

Grain orientation concerns alternating the direction of the grain of each ply as it is put into the mould to achieve a shell with super strength and shape integrity.

Once the snare has been baked under pressure it is immediately moved from the oven to a pressurized cooler to ensure the glue instantly crystallizes and the shell hardens to a perfect cylinder.

The shell of this DW Performance snare is constructed from 10 plies of maple to provide all-purpose tone filled with even amounts of highs and mids combined with rich warm lows.

The blend of grain orientation technology, hand selected North American hard rock maple and the cool tempered process serves to produce a snare with low punchy tones, ample resonance and piercing projection.

45 Degree Back Cut Edges

The shell of this DW Performance 14” x 5.5” snare is finished with 45 degree back cut bearing edges.
