Straight-up Transistor Clipping Tones
Utilizing a pair of 2N2222 transistors the guitar player can yield a simple yet powerful fuzz with an earthy, dark flavor similar to other classic fuzz boxes. However, the Chthonic comes from a different dimension altogether. The Chthonic should be considered as a kind of fuzz from an alternate universe.
Where to put DOD Chthonic Fuzz in the Chain
Put the Chthonic first in line, and this will allow it to interact with the guitar’s pickups and volume control. Avoid having any pedals before the Chthonic as the buffer will affect the tone.
Starting point for the DOD Chthonic Fuzz
A good starting point is to set all the controls at noon, their center point, then adjust to taste. If the result is too intense then back off the Lustre and fuzz controls. Remember, all setting will be heavily dependent on playing style, amplifier and output level of your instrument.
