The shells of the British Drum Co Lounge kit are constructed from 9 plies of mahogany and Scandinavian birch to deliver a beautifully well-rounded characterful sound.

Utilising the best of both woods, these drums capture the boosted highs, reduced mids and punchy lows of birch and blend them with the subdued highs, smooth mids and warm bottom end of mahogany.

Cold Mould

Whereas other drum builders incorporate heat into their drum manufacturing process, British Drum Co believe the absence of it is what makes their signature sound.

Their proprietary cold press moulding system means the timber and shells are allowed to naturally acclimatise to the surrounding environment before and after moulding to ensure the most stable drum shell.

Each of the wood plies put into the cold mould are cross laminated to ensure a super strong shell construction.

This cross-lamination process means the grains of each ply are alternated between vertical and horizontal to deliver a super strong and durable shell build.

The result is 5.5mm thick lounge series shells that produce superb resonance thanks to their thin size without jeopardising strength.

30 Degree Round Over

Each of the hand crafted shells in this BDC Lounge kit are finished with precision cut 30-degree round over bearing edges to add a wonderfully warm character to the kit sound.

The combination of the rich low end of mahogany and the 30-degree hand cut edges serves to deliver a drumkit sound with a tremendously dark tone and punchy projection synonymous with vintage kits.

Art Deco Detail

Perfectly accentuating the classy aesthetic of this lounge drumkit, each of the shells are adorned with BDC’s elegant Palladium Hardware.

Inspired by the architecture and automotive design of the Art Deco period, the stylish palladium hardware provides an instantly classic look.

All the shells are fitted with long double lugs to provide a consistently clean and cohesive aesthetic across the kit.

The 20” bass drum features cast alloy claw hooks which echo the palladium lug styling and are lined with Shore 60 hardness moulded rubber gaskets to protect the wooden hoops. 

In keeping with the vintage styling of this kit, the rack tom is designed to be mounted from a snare stand (sold separately) and should ideally be paired with British Drum Co’s Tom Springs to ensure optimum tom tone.

The 16” floor tom is fitted with Palladium tom brackets that have a vertical fixing to ensure minimal contact between the drum and bracket.

This minimal contact ensures the floor tom is able to resonate freely 360 degrees around the shell without dead spots.

The brackets also have an internal chevron feature that not only provides a strong hold of floor tom legs but also totally eliminates rotation.

Each tom bracket is fitted with a self-aligning and visually integrated memory lock to deliver clean looks and easily replicable settings.
