WHO PLAYED THE GIBSON SG?
To make a list of famous Gibson SG players you would have to include Frank Zappa, Angus Young of AC/DC Fame, Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath, Derek Trucks and Brian Ray who is probably known best for touring and recording with Paul McCartney for many, many years.
The list is endless though, it's even been a popular choice in everything from grunge through to blues, with names like Sleater Kinney and Sister Rossetta Tharpe using the infamous horned design.
WHAT ARE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF A GIBSON SG?
Traditionally, the Gibson SG guitar has two humbucker pickups on the body although some variant models have been known to incorporate just one or as many as three humbucker pickups.
P-90s and smaller single coils have also been used in the Gibson SG. Generally speaking, the Gibson SG comes with a solid mahogany body with a black pickguard.

The Gibson SG is known for its beefy sound and pronounced mid-range bite - and with the neck joining the body at the 22nd fret it is great for hitting those high notes.
