Back in 1991, Metallica's Kirk Hammet approached ESP with an idea for a new signature guitar - one that incorporated many of his KH-2's features, into an axe with a single cutaway design.

And thus the illustrious KH-3 Spider - the guitar he played on the band's Black Album - was born!

Now, with the ESP LTD KH3 Spider, you get a stunning recreation of his legendary KH-3 Spider, built to celebrate the guitar's 30th anniversary, at a mu8ch more affordable price than the custom shop version.

Top Notch Construction

Whilst taking inspiration from the original 90s model, this version of the guitar sports some upgrades that are sure to appeal to modern players.

Featuring that instantly-familiar single cutaway design, with it's comfortably-curved body crafted from Alder, and a 3-piece Maple neck - with neck-thru construction - that's designed for fast and fluid playstyles.

Customisations

True to the original, this guitar also features those famed customised visuals - including the large Spider graphic on the body, and stylised Spider and Skull/Crossbones fret inlays.

Sitting atop the neck you'll find a Macassar Ebony fingerboard, sporting 24 Xtra Jumbo frets with fret #17 upwards being scalloped, giving you even more reliable tone-bending opportunities.

Custom-Voiced Pickups

For this guitar, both ESP and Hammet opted to use his signature EMH humbucker set - the Bonebreakers - which deliver that instantly-familiar Kirk Hammet tone, especially once you enter the realms of high gain distortion.

With a bridge-pickup that's perfect for crunchy distorted tones for those chunky-sounding chugs, and a neck pickup that's perfect for silky-smooth soloing and dazzling cleans, this guitar offers an array of tones suitable for any style of metal.
