Performance Capabilities

The Hydrasynth features the ASM proprietary Polytouch keybed with polyphonic and aftertouch capabilities. This distinctive level of per-note expression control is something that can only be found on certain vintage synths.

Expressive Ribbon Controller

Perfectly situated above the keyboard is the 4-octave Ribbon Controller for you to add powerful expression to any patch you are using. It can be freely be assigned to any modulation source, pitch bend control, or even as a monophonic instrument.

Oscillators

The Hydrasynth features three main oscillators per voice, each equipped with advanced functionality to create complex and dynamic sounds. These oscillators are highly versatile and can generate a variety of waveforms, with two of the oscillators having powerful wavemorphing capabilities.

Mutants

The Mutants are advanced wave-shaping modules that are available for each of the three oscillators in the Hydrasynth. They allow for extensive and creative manipulation of the oscillator waveforms, resulting in complex and evolving sounds. There are eight different types of Mutants, each providing a unique form of synthesis or modulation.

Mixer / Filter Routing

The mixer section allows you to blend the outputs of the three main oscillators, along with the Noise generator and Ring Modulator. The mixer section gives the user independent over the levels and stereo positions of those 5 sources.
The filter section of the Hydrasynth is highly flexible. You can choose how much signal is sent to filter 1 and 2 and both can be run in series or parallel.

Filters

The Hydrasynth features a sophisticated and versatile filter section, which  has a dual filter architecture, allowing for complex filtering options and routing possibilities.
Filter 1 has 16 different models ranging from 1 to 8 poles, many with high pass, band, and low pass options. There is also a flexible vocal filter.
Filter 2 is a 12dB per octave state-variable filter, which means it can sweep continuously from either low pass, bandpass, high pass and is similar to the classic SEM filter in many ways.

LFOs

The Hydrasynth features no less than 5 robust and highly flexible LFOs system that offer extensive control and flexibility for both sound design and performance. With multiple waveforms, wide frequency ranges, and comprehensive routing options, the LFOs significantly contribute to the synthesizer's ability to create dynamic and expressive sounds.

Envolopes

The Hydrasynth comes with five independent envelopes. This is more than what many other synthesizers offer, giving users extensive control over shaping the sound. Users can create complex shapes beyond the standard ADSR (Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release) by adding multiple segments and curves. This allows for detailed modulation of various parameters.

Modulation Matrix

The modulation matrix on the ASM Hydrasynth is designed to allow users to route various modulation sources to different destinations. This capability is essential for creating dynamic and evolving sounds. The matrix provides a flexible and intuitive way to link modulation sources such as LFOs, envelopes, or performance controls to parameters that influence the sound.

Arpeggiator

The ASM Hydrasynth's arpeggiator is a versatile and powerful tool and has all the standard arpeggio directions, plus a few twists. You can also modulate most of the parameters in the arpeggiator. Imagine using LFOs, Envelopes, Polyphonic Aftertouch or the Ribbon controller to modify your arpeggios in real time. The possibilities are endless.

Master Controls

The Master Control section handles all parameter editing, patch naming, and Macro performance. Equipped with OLED screens, high-resolution encoders with LED rings, and 8 buttons, this section provides clear feedback on patch settings and performance status.
The VOICE parameters offer access to polyphony modes, analog feel, voice panning, and many other features, including the new per-voice modulation capabilities introduced in version 2.0. Additionally, a Glissando option has been added to the Glide feature.

Macros

Macros on the Hydrasynth are designed to allow deep control over the synthesizer in live performance. The 8 assignable encoders and buttons can be routed to up to 8 different destinations, such as effects parameters and modulation routes. Entire sound transformations can occur with just the press of a button or the turn of a knob. You can also save the results as a new patch.

Effects

The Hydrasynth's effects chain surpasses the standard offerings of other synthesizers. With both pre-effects and post-effects, you have unique options to shape your sound, including pitch effects, LO-FI, EQ, and Distortion. The delays and reverbs are inspired by some of the most renowned effects available.
