Arturia MatrixBrute an extremely powerful and flexible analogue synthesizer that will inspire you. Incredible sound creation, from an avant garde analog synth allowing you create an entirely unique sound palette.
MatrixBrute Analogue Synthesizer
Possibly the most powerful analog monophonic synth of all time, the Arturia MatrixBrute gives you the flexibility of a modular system but with a bank of presets to choose from.
With three Brute oscillators, a Steiner-Parker filter, a ladder filter, five analogue effects and a modulation matrix – the MatrixBrute offers an incredibly comprehensive toolset allowing you to sculpt an in-depth and unique sonic identity.
Bringing Back the Golden Years of Synths
Arturia have designed the MatrixBrute to be extremely flexible, fun to use and inspiring and with as many features as this synth has, you’ll be discovering new sounds and ways to perform well into the future.
Intuitive to use and with many programmable features, the MatrixBrute is great for use both on the stage and in the studio.
Using the fattest oscillator on the market and two filters based on original designs by Dr. Bob and Nyle Steiner, the MatrixBrute produces the most incredible, pure analogue synth sound with real analog delay effects on the output.
With all these incredible features, it is clear why the MatrixBrute is the flagship synth from Arturia.
Tone Generation and Sonic Sculpting
Arturia’s MatrixBrute has two Brute Style oscillators which each have their own sub oscillators and the same wave shapers that made the Minibrute such a stand out instrument amongst analog synths.
Using the analogue UltraSaw, you can alter the single oscillator sound to perform like three detuned sawtooth oscillators, while the Metalizer on the triangle wave adds some serious edge to your sound.
Get the sub-oscillator involved with its waveform control and adding in some nicely full bodied, low-end tones.
There’s also a third oscillator which features sine, triangle, saw and square waveforms which you can use as both an audio source and a modulation source at once.
Arturia have also incorporated the most advanced Noise Generator ever found on a production synth. White, pink, red and blue noise colours are all available, allowing to design the perfect sound you’re looking for, with noise generator also being able to act as a modulator to add some extra flavour to the filters and oscillators.
Complex Audio Mods and Filters
Create unique and complex audio modulations with the easy to use AUDIO MOD section.
The oscillators can be routed to other oscillators in order to create thick, layered cross modulation sounds and route oscillators and the noise generators to the filters for that extra growl and edge.
You’ll also find two awesome filters on board that really take the MatrixBrute to new levels.
A Steiner-Parker multimode filter, as found in the MiniBrute and MicroBrute, triumphantly returns with some extra power.
Using the DRIVE control, you can really beef up the filter sound while the slope can be 12db per octave or 24db per octave for even fatter sounds.
Dr. Bob’s Ladder, Arturia’s own take on one of the most famous synth filters going, Dr. Robert Moog’s transistor ladder filter, is onboard. For the MatrixBrute, DRIVE control has been added along with 12 and 24db per octave slopes and LOW PASS, HIGH PASS and BAND PASS modes.
You can even set the filters up to be in series or parallel modes to adding even more possibilities into the mix with an offset knob giving you control over both filters.
Analogue Output Effects and Modulators
Five, high quality, true analogue effects have been built-in including stereo delay, mono delay, chorus, flanging and a unique multi-tap reverberator.
Being analogue effects mean you get to maintain your great, natural, analogue sound throughout the sound chain.
Three LFO modulation sources allow you to add more depth, dynamics and dimension to your sound.
LFOs 1 and 2 provide you with a wide range of waveforms to play around with and you can also sync them to the sequencer or MIDI clock while LFO 3 is part of VCO 3 and is able to track the keyboard to reflect your performance as you play up and down.
You’ll also be able to take advantage of the three envelops that are included, giving you time based control over the filters, VCAs or any other parameters you choose to route them to by way of the Matrix.
The Matrix Is Telling My Brain That It Is Juicy and Delicious
One of the first things you’ll notice when you place eyes on the MatrixBrute is the Matrix itself. Big, bright and beautiful – the MatrixBrute’s Matrix is a combined routing system, sequencer and preset recall grid.
- Modulation Routing
The Matrix allows you to route any of 16 modulation sources to any of the 16 modulation destinations and there are 4 destinations that are user assignable so you can set up your own custom matches.
A whole lot more flexible and customisable than patch cords, with the data dial, you’re able to adjust the amount of modulation for each cross point on the Matrix and dial in the perfect, precise amount of modulation.
- Sequencer
Switch to sequencer mode and the matrix will become a 64-step sequencer which supports Accent and Slide steps for extra variation and groove.
There’s also a function that allows you to put a different CV on each step that can be used as a modulation source.
- Preset Recall
When performing live, quickly loading up your presets without fuss and trouble is a must; you don’t want to be scrolling through lists and navigating your way through menus when the time comes.
Using the Matrix you can instantly recall any of the 256 on-board preset memory locations with the touch of a button – perfect for flawless performance.
Great Control
While 49 note velocity keybed with aftertouch is your main gateway to performance with the MatrixBrute there’s a whole host of controls to grasp full control over your sound.
Pitch bend and mod wheels are available with 4 assignable macro knobs which are also routable to any of the modulation destinations by using the Matrix meaning you can use a single knob to control up to 16 different parameters.
Comprehensive Connectivity
One of the most important aspects of having a good synthesizer at the centre of your performance setup is connectivity and so, the MatrixBrute comes fully equipped with 12 CV inputs and outputs and the ability to use the MatrixBrute in conjunction with Eurorack standard modules for further performance options.
Using the DIN/clock sync ins and outs you can synchronise vintage drum machines and external sequencers, connect to a computer via USB or hook up to MIDI supporting sound modules. You can even connect expression pedals or footswitches to take your performance even further.
