Solid Tonewood Top
In using a topwood made from Solid A+ Sitka Spruce you can be sure that the Alvarez AJ80CE-12 produces a sweet and smooth sound, with plenty of projection and volume. Add to this the Maple back and sides, and you have yourself a guitar that can boast a bright, clear tone, with pristine note definition, perfectly suited to a number of different play styles.
Add to this the FST2 Forward Shifted X-Bracing system and you have the perfect 12-stringed guitar for live performances. This bracing system allows the Sitka Spruce top to resonate more freely than a standard bracing system would, resulting in better sound projection.
What Does a 12-String Guitar Do?
A 12-string guitar produces a far richer tone than a standard six-string. The additional strings on the instrument are placed side-by-side with the traditional 6 strings, with only a narrow gap between them, and whilst the Top E and B strings are tuned in unison with their counterparts (essentially, doubling up), the 4 extra strings in the lower register are tuned to an octave higher than their own counterpart, making for a beautifully rich wash of sound even when playing the simplest of chords.
