Expand your setup with the Allen & Heath DX168, a robust 96kHz portable expander designed to seamlessly add remote I/O capabilities to your dLive, Avantis, or SQ systems, as well as AHM audio matrix processors.

Achieve Ultimate Flexibility and Performance

The Allen & Heath DX168 is a durable, 96kHz portable expander that provides versatile remote I/O capabilities for dLive, Avantis, and SQ systems, as well as the AHM-64 audio matrix processor. Featuring 16 mic preamps with independent Phantom Power LED indicators and 8 balanced XLR line outputs, the DX168 connects effortlessly via a single Cat5e cable through secure EtherCon ports, offering redundant or daisy-chain connections for expanded setups. Built with rugged rubber bumpers, a convenient carry handle, and an optional 4U rack mounting kit, this lightweight 4.8kg expander is ideal for stage performances, rentals, educational institutions, and houses of worship.

Key Features

  • 16 Mic Preamps: Provides +60dB of gain with phantom power indicators and a -20dB pad for handling line-level sources.
  • 8 Balanced Line Outputs: Durable XLR outputs with relay protection ensure reliable, high-quality audio transmission.
  • Stagebox or Rackmount Options: Use as a portable stagebox or mount it in a 19-inch rack with an optional 4U rackmount kit for flexible deployment.
  • Plug-and-Play Convenience: Simply connect to your mixer and start; automatic firmware updates are managed by the mixer itself.
  • Rugged, Portable Design: Built to withstand demanding environments, the DX168 features durable rubber bumpers, a sturdy carry handle, and weighs just 4.8kg for easy transport.

Seamless Integration with Allen & Heath Mixers

With dLive: Connect up to 6 DX168 units directly to a dLive system—4 via the MixRack and 2 via the Surface—expanding your setup to include 96 remote inputs and 48 remote outputs alongside those built into the MixRack and Surface. For even greater flexibility, additional DX168 units can be connected through a dLive DX Link card or DX Hub.

With Avantis: Two DX168 units can be daisy-chained directly into an Avantis mixer’s SLink port. By incorporating a DX Link card or DX Hub, up to 16 DX168 units can be added to the Avantis system, providing comprehensive remote I/O options.

With SQ: Connect two DX168 units in a daisy chain to the SQ mixer’s SLink port, with further connections supported via an optional SLink card for enhanced flexibility. For larger setups, the DX Hub allows up to 8 DX168 units to be added, which can be dynamically patched to any of the SQ’s 48 input channels.

With AHM-64: Up to 2 DX168 units can connect directly to the AHM-64’s SLink port, with up to 8 units configurable through a DX Hub, allowing full patching across the 64 input channels, creating a fully integrated and scalable system ideal for complex audio environments.

Maximum Flexibility in Positioning

  • 100m Range: Place the DX168 up to 100m away from the mixer for optimized stage and studio setups.
  • Dual EtherCon Ports: Connect securely via a single Cat5e cable, with an additional port for redundant connection or daisy-chaining another DX Expander for expanded remote I/O.

The DX168 combines portability and power, providing the versatility and durability you need to handle professional audio demands on stage or in the studio.
